Research Areas:
Research interests of our group include the areas of synthesis, structural characterization, and application studies of advanced functional materials. They are dedicated to the following sub-tasks:
1)Fabrication and characterization of biomaterials, such as mesoporous bioactive glasses, Ti, Mg/HAP composite coating, etc.
2)Preparation and investigation of ceramic thin films (such as ZrO2, Y2O3, and TiO2) by sol-gel method and “biomimmetic synthesis” procedures;
3)Design and fabrication of organic polymer nanostructures (such as nanofilms, nanowires, nanofibers, etc) and self-assembled monolayers on different substrates;
4)Surface & interface phenomena investigation (such as adhesion and wettabiltiy) of organic films;
5)Measurement and analysis of mechanical properties (such as hardness, elastic modulus, adhesion strength, etc.) of inorganic and organic thin films;
6)Tribology and nano-tribology studies by multifarious tribo-testers and atomic force microscopy (AFM/FFM) with emphasis on correlation between the films structure and tribological behaviors and their usage as lubricating and anti-wear coatings in MEMS.
